Friday, April 4 - Pledge Class Dinners

Representatives from each pledge class are planning a fun evening out for the moms and boys. After dinner, Mom’s Club is planning to rent space for everyone to gather beginning around 9pm - location TBD.  Please refer to the email Shannan sent on Feb. 12th for details and contact your pledge class mom with questions.

Saturday, April 5 - Dinner and Auction

Dinner and Auction will be at Macelli’s (1031 New Hampshire)

 

Schedule of Events:

6:00pm - Cocktails and Auction Browsing

7:15pm - Announcements

7:30pm - Dinner

8:00pm - Heads or Tails

9:30pm - Auction wraps up

 

**We realize this is the Final Four weekend and we will have access to a huge screen so we can all watch the game together if/WHEN our Jayhawks are playing! We will adjust the timing of the evening accordingly if this is the case. 

 

Heads or Tails

This is a highlight of the evening every year! We play a huge game of heads or tails, and the winner gets 1/2 of the pot IN CASH! The other half goes to Mom’s Club. Cost is $10 for each “life”, and you can purchase as many lives as you want. Last year the winner won close to $800 - not kidding! It’s so much fun and a great way to raise cash for Mom’s Club and “beverage” money for the winner. So don’t forget to bring some cash (or your Venmo) that night - your boys (and you!) will definitely want to play!

 

Cost for Dinner and Sign Up

We have a great meal planned - appetizers while browsing the auction items and a delicious meal for all. We will start with Italian meat and cheese platters, caprese skewers and loads of soft pretzels with beer cheese dip for those hungry boys. Dinner will be carne asada and chicken street tacos (both gluten free) with all of the fixings including fresh guac and chorizo cheese dip. We will also have two cash bars set up for purchasing beverages. 

 

Cost for dinner will be $70/person. If you know you are coming, please go ahead and sign up now so we can get a feel for the numbers. Deadline to sign up for the dinner is March 20th, and please note that you need to purchase a ticket for yourself AND your son. If you have a dietary restriction/request, please email Shannan McKee at shannanmckee@me.com.

Saturday Night FIJI Auction 

This super-fun event raises money for projects for our boys’ home-away-from-home at 1540 Louisiana and is held during the mother/son dinner on Saturday evening at Macelli’s. 

Obviously, the moms and sons can bid on items, but we will need items to bid ON!  Please put your thinking caps on and determine what your family can donate to this wonderful cause. Our goal is to get one item donated per family, so we have plenty from which to choose.

 

In order to spark those creative juices, here are some ideas of things that have been donated in the past:

 

  • Cooler filled with beer and seltzers

  • Painting of the Fiji house 

  • Custom needlepoint belt

  • KU painted corn hole game

  • Chicken & Pickle courts and food

  • Neon Jayhawk bar sign

  • Dinner gift cards for Lawrence or KC

  • Concert tickets

  • Chiefs/Royals/Sporting tickets

  • Wireless airpods

  • KU football/basketball tickets

  • “Links and Drinks” at various country clubs in Lawrence & KC

  • Spa items or gift certificates for the moms

  • Or ask your son what they would like to see at the auction!

 

Still don’t have any ideas or want to keep it simple? No problem. A cash donation would also be welcome which will be used to purchase items for our auction.  Please refer to Shannan's email sent on Feb. 12th for Venmo instructions. Please use this link to fill out our donation form with all pertinent information we will need to list your item(s) on our auction software. We would prefer to have donations by March 25th if possible.

 

ADDITIONALLY - we need some auction set up help! We are looking for 2-3 people to help receive and set up/display the auction items. This will be from 10-12 Saturday morning at Macelli’s. The staff at Macelli’s is very helpful and all of the info sheets will already be printed and ready to go. We just need a few people who can receive, organize and display the items to get them ready for the auction Saturday night. This is also a great way to get a sneak peek at all of the great items that will be available to bid on! If you are able to help, please let us know ASAP.
